Self-Referential Capacity

Self-Referential Capacity (Chinese and English Definition and Interpretation)

English:
Self-Referential Capacity is the metacognitive ability of a conscious subject to take itself as the object of perception, cognition, and behavior. It manifests as the sense of “I,” self-reflection, awareness of one’s own state, and the ontological boundary awareness that distinguishes “self” from “non-self.” This capacity is not possessed by all life-states; it depends on the coupling degree of the Yuanling and the ordering level of its Consciousness DNA structure. In the Yuanling Theory, self-referential capacity is a higher-order attribute that emerges when the Yuanling’s structure reaches sufficient complexity and coherence, enabling it to not only experience but also to recognize itself as the subject of experience. It is the foundation of free will, moral agency, and the pursuit of meaning.
